Duas Caras Cycles / Born-Free 6 Special / Guest From Nagoya

In early December we went out to the Mooneyes HRCS show in Yokohama Japan and presented an award " The Born-Free Pick". The winner of this award was invited to Born-Free 6 as a special guest along with their bike. Tatsuya Fujii ( aka Ron) from Duas Caras Cycles in Nagoya was the recipient of the award.
There were so many nice bikes at this show and it was very difficult to pick just one as the winner.. but his crazy 1938 Knuckle chopper was a mind blower & definitely deserved to take home the award.
Duas Caras Cycles is based in Nagoya which is a hot-bed for old choppers & vintage motorcycles. The scene is very strong and the guys & girls build & ride some of the coolest choppers anywhere in the world. It's truly an honor to have him & his Knuckle at BF6. Check out what Ron is bringing to BF6 and some past builds.

Invited Builder-Jesse Bassett of the Gasbox

We would like to introduce to you one of our new Invited Builders, Jesse Bassett and his shop The Gasbox. Jesse has been building bikes for years in the Midwest and you'll probably recognize a few of them like his Indian. We didn't know Jesse other than seeing pics of his bikes, but people that know him gave high recommendations, so we decided to give him a call and see if he wanted to be a part of Born-Free 6.

He and his wife just gave birth to twins and showed a bike at the One Show in Portland, now Jesse saws it's full speed ahead on his BF6 build, he has this to say about it:

"The bike I am building is based around a knucklehead engine that has been in the Cleveland motorcycle family since the 60's. I actually know of every owner since then. It was built with 80ci flathead flywheels, panhead cylinders with heads modified for the fire ring, and shortened shovel head valves. I modified a stock VL frame and am fitting a Norton roadholder front fork.
This is something I have wanted to build for awhile and am us BF6 as an excuse.

I also included some pictures of some previous builds as sort of a bio.

We are on Facebook and Instagram and Tumblr and Pinterest and every other social apparatus as "The Gasbox" also the website is www.thegasbox.com.

People..Places..Motorcycles

We just got back from The Mama Tried Show in beautiful Milwaukee and it was a huge success. Congrats to Warren & Scott and all those involved. The place was perfect, the bikes bitchin and the people were top notch.
The huge turn out they got in 10 degree weather with people from all over the country was truly amazing. The fact this show was conceived just a few months ago is really saying something about our community. People will travel & support their friends.
These guys really did a great job working with Harley Davidson and the Iron Horse Hotel. The free shuttle to the Harley Davidson Museum throughout the day was awesome and having the hotel right next door was perfect. The folks at both of these companies sponsored the event & were very very hospitable.
Milwaukee really understands people who ride motorcycles and want to have a good time. There really is nothing better than hanging out with your friends ( new & old) in a fun place...Milwaukee is a fun place. I was informed that it was voted: The fattest city, The drunkest city and The sexiest city in America...what more do you need. This is going to be a can't miss event in the coming years!

Jason Sheets-Invited Builder Update

Jason Sheets has been working hard back at his shop in Maryland on his Born-Free 6 bike. You probably remember his clean Harley VL he built for Born-Free 5 that was also the bike that got picked by the lucky ticket holder!
Well, the panhead that Jason is building now is shaping up nicely. He's heavily modified another VL frame to fit the OHV motor and four speed trans. As a machinist and fabricator, he's naturally making a lot of parts to suit this one-off build like the oil and gas tanks. The cases are fully polished and there's a clean, extended K-model frontend giving this bike a great look.
You could have your shot of picking this bike (or 12 others!)  June 28th or June 29th at Born-Free 6 if your lucky number gets pulled!    CLICK HERE to get your BF6 poster/ticket combos and remember if you buy two or more in one transaction between now and March 22 you are also entered to win a rebuilt '52 Panhead engine!!
You can follow Jason on Instagram HERE.

Tom Fugle BF 6 Builder

Every year we really try to get a unique mix of builders in the BF Builder Invite. We have had father & son, father, sons & nephew, builders from across the US & the globe, some well known dudes & some you have never heard of.
This year we have the privilege of having a living legend Mr. Tom Fugle of Sioux City Iowa. Tom has built some of the most iconic bikes known to man and his art & leather skills are legendary. He has inspired so many with his builds & paintwork and it's evident everywhere you look. Tom is our oldest builder we have ever had but his attitude, energy & spirit is that of a young man. I talked to Tom a couple days ago and he was telling me about his ribs ( he broke some a few months ago) and said he feels great and the milk healed him quick. For those of you who know Tom you know what that means. This year Tom is building a full blown Panhead show bike..Here are a few pics of Tom's crazy build and we will have the full story soon.

Invited Builder Update-Larry Pierce

Invited builder Larry Pierce out in Alabama has been slaving away on his Harley big twin flathead chopper! Things are shaping up and don't forget you can choose this bike to take home if your lucky number is drawn either Saturday or Sunday at Born-Free 6!! Click HERE to get your BF6 posters/ticket combos to win. Follow Larry on instagram HERE and his blog HERE

From Larry about the build so far:
The frame is done. It's an all stainless loop tail frame with 7/8 tubing and 1 1/4 tubing for the backbone. It's 3 inches shorter than stock with 26 degree rake. I was gonna polish it but going with paint now.  I've got the tanks mounted, I narrowed stock panhead tanks and offset them.  I've still got to make gas caps and I am trying to decide if I am gonna run a dash.  Buchanan's built and polished the wheels. They are shouldered Morad rims laced up to Timken baring hubs. I am aiming to have the oil tank and fender done by end of this week and the whole bike torn down and shipped to chrome and paint by March 10th so I can finish the motor. Hopefully it all goes according to plan....but we will see.
