Honoring Larry Pierce

We want to give everyone an update on what's happening with Larry's bike. Larry's tragic death was heart breaking for so many that knew and loved him. He was definitely a friend to us & the show and will be sorely missed. We wanted to give the family some time to grieve & get through this very tough period before we asked if we could help in any way possible or if they wanted to come to out the show. The family does want to come and it's our honor to have them as special guests. We have taken care of all the necessary accommodations for Larry's family & his bike to be at Born-Free. Larry's BF6  bike is being finished by his close friend Chris Richardson at LA Speedshop and will be ready for the show.

From Larry about the build so far:
The frame is done. It's an all stainless loop tail frame with 7/8 tubing and 1 1/4 tubing for the backbone. It's 3 inches shorter than stock with 26 degree rake. I was gonna polish it but going with paint now.  I've got the tanks mounted, I narrowed stock panhead tanks and offset them.  I've still got to make gas caps and I am trying to decide if I am gonna run a dash.  Buchanan's built and polished the wheels. They are shouldered Morad rims laced up to Timken baring hubs. I am aiming to have the oil tank and fender done by end of this week and the whole bike torn down and shipped to chrome and paint by March 10th so I can finish the motor. Hopefully it all goes according to plan....but we will see.

Builder Update! Larry Pierce

There must be some good water out there in Alabama because our buddy and invited BF6 builder Larry is always havin' a good time buildin net stuff! Here's a quick look at what he's got cookin' for this year...


"Here are some pics of what i got so far. Motor and stainless neck and tubing for frame.

I just got my motor today, its a 48 UL basket case and I have a lead on a panhead transmission. I am gonna get started on the frame today or tomorrow.  Pumped about being invited back this year so....here we go again."

Born-Free 5 Invited Builder Series-Larry Pierce of Garage Company Customs

We met Larry Pierce and his girlfriend Ashley last year at Born-Free 4 behind their box van where they had been selling moonshine to help pay for gas money for the big trip out west to Born-Free. We had seen some of his stuff in a few of the magazines, but were taken by the bike he built and brought to the show just for fun. Larry seemed to have more than just talent, he was a down to earth dude that embodied the kind of spirit we look for in our invited builders. They have to be more than a pretty face!
Anyway, we are pleased to have Larry join us and our builders for Born-Free 5! Not only that, but you could even take home the 1947 Harley Knucklehead chopper he's building the day of the show, June 29, 2013!!!
