Mama Tried and the Street 500 Giveaway in Milwaukee

 We had a blast at the Mama Tried show in Milwaukee over the weekend thanks to Warren and Scott that put on the event. In a city already rich with motorcycle history these guys have put together a show that has become a must-see in two short years.
They also let us use it as a place to giveaway the Harley-Davidson "Thresher" Street 500 we had built last year for BF6 by Brandon of Brawny Built and Speed Merchant. The bike was one fo the first custom Streets built and was featured on the cover of HOT BIKE magazine and numerous other places. One lucky guy named Scott Takes had his ticket pulled and was there at the show...the rest is history! Scott is a very talented and does a lot of paint work, you can follow him HERE on his instagram. It turned out to be a bit of a Cinderella story for us because we always hope our bikes go to good homes and even though we didn't really know Scott it turned out that he has painted several of our invited builder bikes over the years as well as many other cool scoots. He also received a new Biltwell Gringo helmet with the bike. Congrats to Scott and thanks to all that helped with the Street Project including a big thanks to Harley-Davidson.

The Giveaway Knucklehead Post 1

This is the first of many updates to come on the 1946 Harley Davidson Knucklehead we are giving away at BF7. Max Schaaf of 4Q Condition in Oakland CA will be building & riding the bike to the show. Max has built some of the coolest bikes for BF & himself over the years and we are very happy he accepted our proposal to build one of the giveaway bikes. Here are some words from Max... This is my first post about the Knucklehead I am building and Born-Free is giving away at BF7. I've started to collect some parts for it. One being a beautiful 1946 Knucklehead motor, I really dig Knuckles in straight leg Panhead frames so I've acquired one of those as well. The rest is just gobbley guck for the photo, but you get the idea. I'm very excited about this endeavor and am actually a little anxious as I type this. My vision is to build a chopper, that when finished i'll ride to the show. It will not be a show bike that has immaculate paint and chrome with no farts on the seat, though I will be doing lots of fabrication and paint on the bike. I just think those style bikes are fun to build and ride and that way whoever wins it can enjoy themselves and not feel like they can't breathe on it. Feels corny to over explain  so i'll stop, and just say...... the winner wins a Knucklehead and I hope he/she can ride it out of there or at least enjoy riding it wherever it ends up. T Bone's Final Stretch...We Hope

Scott is putting countless hours in on his BF6 120R build. The late night/ early morning texts he sends are getting me nervous. He's not sleeping and is losing weight and he's hooked on energy drinks....building a bike for Born-Free is not as glamorous as it sounds. These guys are stressed, broke and tired. We do appreciated the hard work and long nights but it goes with the territory and the end result is worth it. Jason's full show Panhead is in a modified VL frame and features tons of subtle tricks that Jason is known for being a skilled machinist. And remember! Trent Schara of Atomic Customs in New Mexico is a guy that's been building bikes for years. You might remember the "Fish" bike, the "Mexipan", or more recently the "Frost Lord". All these bikes, especially when he showed up to BF3 with the Frost Lord, led us to ask Trent to be one of our invited builders. Last year he did a great black and blue shovel and this year he is putting together a crazy pan-shovel.
He just picked up the OG wishbone frame and tins from his painter JP Rodman and is already on final assembly! Invited Builder Update-Oliver Jones

Oliver from Cut Rate has been busy working on his crazy cone Shovelhead for months now and it's finally a roller that's on its way to being finished. He's got a rare set of magnesium Kimtab wheels holding the soon to be fast bike up. The frontend is from a flattrack race bike in japan! Jason Sheets-Invited Builder Update

Jason Sheets has been working hard back at his shop in Maryland on his Born-Free 6 bike. You probably remember his clean Harley VL he built for Born-Free 5 that was also the bike that got picked by the lucky ticket holder!

Well, the panhead that Jason is building now is shaping up nicely. He's heavily modified another VL frame to fit the OHV motor and four speed trans. As a machinist and fabricator, he's naturally making a lot of parts to suit this one-off build like the oil and gas tanks. The cases are fully polished and there's a clean, extended K-model frontend giving this bike a great look.
